At Kings Avenue, we have encouraged a great opportunity to think about the skills the children may need for their future careers. IntoUniversity provides local learning where young people are inspired to achieve. At the school and local centre, they offers an innovative programme that supports young people from all backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration.
At the beginning of year 6, we have the opportunity to take part in a week long workshop, where the children got to learn about universities and aspirations. Our theme for this week was Government and Politics, which allowed the children time to look in depth at 3 key people from around the world, who have overcome adversities and discrimination to fight for a change within their Government or Politics.
During this week, the children also got to take part in a mock trial at the Royal Courts of Justice. This day was amazing, and the children learnt so much about our legal system; a trial itself and even got to talk to lawyers and barristers who were taking part in cases that day.
The week ended with a graduation at Kings College London. The children had the opportunity to present their information about one of the three key people they had researched and to share their aspirations of what they want to be when they grow up.
This week taught the children so much about aspirations, public speaking and the wider world. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!
Below are some pictures of the day.
